Catholic Reading Society
About Us

The oldest and largest Catholic publisher in the country, Paulist Press is a major ministry of the Paulist Fathers, an order founded by and for Americans in 1858. From the very beginning, the mission of the Paulist Fathers and the Press has been to spread the Good News of Jesus, to explore and share the richness of American Catholicism, and to do both these things through every form of media available to the time.

Paulist Press was one of the first ministries created by the Paulist Fathers. Over its 140 years of publishing for the Catholic community, the Press has developed a variety of religious programs. It has also been called upon to distribute Catholic programs designed by other groups and ministries.. It became apparent that a clearinghouse was the logical way to distribute these diversified religious parish programs, family faith resources, Catholic school reading materials, and books and magazines for the individual parishioner’s quest for more fully living the Word.

Thus the Catholic Reading Society was born. The Society works through three different branches:

The Catholic Family Book Center, which helps strengthen family values, provide hard-to-find Catholic literature for the home, and assist teachers with finding quality reading for children.

The Catholic Reading Center, which delivers an assortment of high quality Catholic magazines and books directly to parishes on a monthly basis for purchase by individuals.

Catholic World, which will educate, entertain, and engage you with thought-provoking articles by today’s best Catholic writers. Originally a renowned magazine by Paulist Press with an international readership, Catholic World is now online with exciting new features. Ministry resources, pastoral aids, and a question box providing solid answers to the queries, problems, and uncertainties of today’s Catholic will all be available through this brand-new site.
